There’s nothing more fun than standing in the middle of the road on a sunny day with some clouds and a bit of breeze to check out some classic rides! And that’s what happened on Sunday July 16th. The first annual Cloverdale Country Festival came back to life with the base component of the BC Hot Rod Association’s annual Show N Shine aka Super Sunday. Car show organizers Walt Wagner and Dave Tomlison with a large group of BCHRA volunteers put on a great show and encouraged all of their participants to check the Town out. The presenting sponsor the Cloverdale Business Improvement Association is planning on recreating its largest community festival ever called the Cloverdale Blueberry Festival and calling it the Cloverdale Country Festival. The City of Surrey supported the event financially and Councilor Dave Woods was on hand to pick a vehicle on behalf of the City. Both MLA’s Marvin Hunt and Stephanie Cadieux were in attendance to pick another vehicle.
BIA ED, Paul Orazietti explained that “it would take time and a small army of volunteers to build back the ultimate Cloverdale community event”. Discussions have taken place with a number of people to get different sponsors and financial aid, like a City Culture grant to bring the Arts Council of Surrey back to the Museum plaza. In addition with help from Clover Square Village and the Brick Yard.
